Sorry for not posting sooner, I wish I could say I forgot but the truth is I've been lazy relaxing and I couldn't be bothered! Unfortunately I have not taken many pictures yet, but I will be on the ball with that from.... right...... now. Just took a pic!
We are currently on a castaway Island resort which is beautiful. The food here is also pretty good, in fact I prefer the Cassava and Tuolo to the rice and fish (which i don't like) but have been eating it anyway, the fish here tastes like chicken because its such big stakes so it's not that hard.
Tomorrow morning we leave the island (via boat) to the island that the village is located on, then we partake in a ceremony which includes presenting a gift to the the village (done by the leaders) and ask permission from the chief to live on the island. of course they are aware that we will be coming as they have also been briefed by the ministry and TP team, it is more a traditional thing.
We done a mock Cava ceremony with the locals working on the castaway island the day before yesterday to make sure we get it right when we get there as there are specific seating arrangements and there is a certain way to accept the Grog. - Grog *which i may have misspelt* is a traditional drink, which is often drunken by the Fijians it is not alcoholic (we are not aloud to drink alcohol as part of the team anyway) but it definitely puts you to sleep after lol. It gives you a funny type feeling after alot, it tastes pretty bad (even the Fijians pull a face when they drink it, it also makes your mouth feel numb. It is passed around, the leaders and elders being served first. When accepting it in the bowl you clap once, take it -say Bula the first time, drink, hand it back saying Vinaka and clap 3 times. Me, being the good sport I am drank the most, 10 bowls!! and mostly 'high tides' when i'm pretty sure i asked for a 'low tide' but i reckon the locals we having too much fun watching me drink it! However i'm certain the the favourite now lol. they are all very very nice, its rare to pass someone without a Bula, Bula vicky, Bula Vics or Bula, how are you?
We have also had the opportunity to snorkel, swim and kayak. Me and Kholoud went kayaking for the first time around the whole island in about 30 minuets flat - and it had started to rain!! -PROS. I also managed to walk the whole island in about 20 mins, it is honestly the most beautiful place and I should definitely take more photos!!
Yesterday at the briefing we were told who we will be staying with in the village, Me, Maddie and Gorgie, will be with a family of four, a husband and wife along with two children aged 8 and 10 but they told us the extended family are often over to stay.
I will most likely not have wifi after today for another 3 weeks and don't have much credit but hopefully i can buy some on the village. It is a Digicel sim.
ALSO. I plan to change my flight to stay in Fiji for a maybe 2 extra days at smugglers cove before going to NZ and i may decide to stay there longer also, idk.
BYE for now! x
